There aren't many happy hour options available in Northgate area, but Stanford's offers a decent HH. Their HH is available Monday through Saturday from 3PM to 6PM and from 9PM to close, and all day Sunday in a bar area. There are plenty of booth tables available in the bar for the HH customers.
I always order BBQ Chicken Quesadilla and Beer Battered True Cod Tacos. Their quesadilla is truly amazing! For the tacos, it used to be good for the price but not anymore as they only serve 2 tacos instead of 3 tacos. I ordered buttermilk fried chicken strips for my beer, and it was ok - somewhat similar to the frozen product you can buy from grocery. -

The fish tacos had good halibut and the salsa and avocado spread were really excellent. In fact, the fish pieces were as big as the corn tortilla. This was by far the star of the show.
Sadly, my husband's burger was nothing notable. That and the living wage tax added as an unexpected, extra fee brings this experience to 3 stars instead of 4. -

This is a true case of "go check it out to form your own opinion" type of situation! Arrived on a Saturday around lunchtime, it wasn't busy, so I was seated by the host right away with menu's while I waited for my server. The server arrived instantly with water, and after reading through the menu, I decided on the calamari appetizer, and Wagyu beef burger (with added peppered bacon).
My food came pretty quickly since it wasn't busy - firstly, the calamari were fantastic! They were lightly breaded, and just the right about of chewiness. Not a bit of greasiness in sight. It came with 2 dipping sauces, and was a perfect appetizer.
I ordered my Wagyu burger medium rare, and they truly delivered! The burger was absolutely amazing! It oozed cheese, and the peppered bacon was thick and a fabulous addition. The side of fries was the right amount, and lovely and crisp.
I also grabbed a glass of wine, and the server kept my water topped up.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the food, and friendliness of the staff here. Everything was very fresh, and plentiful, so I had lots of leftovers to take home. It definitely feels pricey than most other places in the Northgate mall area, but given the preparation of the food, I would pay for the great quality!
Lots of parking too since it shares the lot with the mall. -

All day happy hour on Sunday, good quality drinks and basic happy hour food. The breading on the chicken strips is crisp and full of flavor. The fries have an amazing seasoning salt. The downside though it is a very greasy appetizer/meal to the point that it can be harder to enjoy. The service was friendly and attentive. Decor is pretty dated and in need of touch up- hopefully the new owner will help to make this an even better place to enjoy a meal. Overall though a good option at Northgate that I would return.

I had positive memories of Stanford's from college, so thought I would check it out. The interior is pretty much the same, but the menu has changed. Nothing jumped out at us so we ordered cocktails which were super meh and others' plates around us looked like Denny's fare. Not good enough to return for.
But then! We get the bill, which tacks on a fee to pay their workers. Not the typical 20% surcharge shared between employees, but some sort of passive-aggressive fee to cover the $15/hr minimum wage. That's *one* way to tell your customers you don't care about your employees, I guess.
Look, maybe you don't want to pay a decent wage to get the best employees who know how to make drinks and cook food, but don't blame the city, and don't whine that the minimum wage put you out of business. If hiring good employees at a living wage is beyond your capacity, you'll probably soon find that no one wants to visit your mediocre Denny's-Plus restaurant. I certainly wont ever return, due to the crappy drinks, but also due to that crappy note on the bill.
